Imagine a situation in which you have to do a lot of studying and reading, but you are travelling or your eyes hurt and you can't read properly. In this situation, it would be great if you could hear the text instead of reading it. This will allow you to study anytime and anywhere, even when you don't have your book or laptop with you. In this case, Talking Clipboard can help you.

The work "talking" included in the program's name allows you to make an idea about what the program is all about. It's about reading different pieces of text, pasted from the clipboard or from various text files. It's a Windows application that can be installed with minimum effort. During the installation process, the user has the possibility to select certain components that should be installed together with the application, like a vocabulary and a spell checker. Selecting them will require downloading them from the Internet but this can be performed completely automatically.

The interface of Talking Clipboard resembles the one of a normal text editor, allowing the user to write text, paste it from the clipboard or to import the text from various document types. After having done this, one can simply click on the Play button and the program will start reading out the complete text. Optionally, the user can adjust the voice type, speed, pitch and volume, for making it sound exactly how he wants.

Besides pronouncing text in real time, Talking Clipboard also allows saving the reading as an audio file, for storing it on an MP3 player, for example, and listening to it anytime, anywhere. This will make the user get more information in a shorter time. Besides reading text copied from the clipboard or imported from various documents, Talking Clipboard can also manage RSS feeds and can read the contents of the news headlines. This will make the user stay informed even if he doesn't have time to read the news.

The options section of Talking Clipboard allows deep customization of its functionality and also the appearance, allowing the user to change the colors of the interface. In case the user has more text files he would like to have them read aloud, he can convert them in a batch mode. Besides that, two or more audio files generated by the application can be merged together.

Pros

It can read aloud any piece of text, no matter if it's copied from the clipboard, typed manually or imported from a document. Besides that, the reading can be saved as a WAV or MP3 audio file. Furthermore, more documents can be converted into audio files automatically, in batch mode. Moreover, audio files generated by the app can be split or merged.

Cons

The demo version includes only a single type of voice. Talking Clipboard is a solution for converting any kind of text into speech.
